Dr. Alan Vernec is the Chief Medical Officer at the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), where he has worked since 2009. He is a graduate of the University of California, San Diego (Bioengineering) and McGill University (Medicine) and taught clinical sport medicine at both l’Université de Montréal and McGill University. He continues to practice sport medicine part-time. Dr. Vernec has extensive experience as a team physician with numerous national sport teams, particularly with Athletics Canada and Judo Canada for almost two decades. His duties as a Canadian team physician brought him to scores of international competition, including many Olympic Games and World Championships. His passion for sport and belief that all athletes should be able to participate in fair competition provides the drive to tackle the extensive challenges that arise in the sport and anti-doping community. Through WADA, and partnering with sport medicine and specialist physicians, Dr. Vernec and his team work to create the framework and guidelines for a more equitable and athlete-centered sporting environment.

Dr. Ana V. Cintron is a Board-Certified Physiatrist currently working as Attending Physician in the VA Caribbean Healthcare System, in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She received her medical degree in the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine, completed her Internship Program (Internal Medicine) in St. Luke’s Hospital, Washington University in St. Louis, and her Residency Program in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation in the VA Caribbean Healthcare System in San Juan, Puerto Rico. For the past 25 years she has been an Assistant Professor of the Department of Physical Medicine, Rehabilitation & Sports Medicine of the University Of Puerto Rico School Of Medicine. She has remained active in academic medicine, serving as PM&R Residency Program Director from 2006-2015. Dr. Cintron’s areas of expertise are Amputation Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine. She has been the Chair for the Amputation Care Clinics since 2003 and Medical Director for the San Juan VA Polytrauma Amputation Network System since 2013. She has also dedicated her practice to the field of Sports Medicine, being a member of the Executive Board of the Puerto Rico Sports Medicine Federation for more than 15 years, serving as President from 2011 to 2015. She worked directly with the PR Olympic Committee Track & Field Federation, as member of the Technical Committee and Vice-President for Women’s Track & Field Affairs from 2004-2008. She has served as part of the Medical Committee of several Track & Field organizations including the International Amateur Athletic Federation (IAAF) (1996-2002), Central American & Caribbean Athletic Confederation (2002-present). Dr. Cintrón has also served as Medical Director of multiple National & International meets, including the yearly PR Inter-collegiate Sports Festival and the 2010 Central American & Caribbean Games celebrated in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. She has been one of the Team Physicians for the Puerto Rico National Team in international meets including Central American, Pan-American Games, the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, and team physician for the Puerto Rico Paralympic Team in Tokyo 2020. In Puerto Rico she is currently part of the National Anti-Doping Association (PRADO) as part of the TUE Panel. She is currently the President of the Pan-American Confederation of Sports Medicine (COPAMEDE) and member of the FIMS Executive Committee as one of two elected members in representation of the Americas.

Prof Petroczi is a Research Professor at Kingston University London and an internationally recognised anti-doping expert with background in psychology, management & marketing, and journalism. She started her career with a Lecturer post at Semmelweis University (Hungary) and pursued a full-time PhD in the U.S. In 2001, she joined Kingston University as a Senior Lecturer, steadily advancing to become a Principal Lecturer in 2005, then a Reader in 2009, ultimately reaching her current role as Research Professor in 2010. Alongside her position, she is a Senior Research Fellow at ELTE (Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest, Hungary), and also holds a visiting position at ‘Foro Italico’ University of Rome (Italy) and at the Willibald Gebhardt Institute, University of Münster (Germany). Prof Petroczi’s research covers several anti-doping topics with present focus on doping prevalence; the meaning of ‘clean’ in sport, in performance enhancement and in anti-doping; the impact of anti-doping on clean athletes; athlete vulnerability, and the role of values and personal integrity in anti-doping education. She is a founding member of the Clean Sport Alliance and she has Chaired WADA’s Doping Prevalence Working Group between 2017-2023.

Dr Borja Muniz-Pardos is a senior research fellow and lecturer at the FIMS (International Federation of Sports Medicine, www.fims.org) Collaborating Centre of Sports Medicine (FIMS CCSM) at the University of Zaragoza (Spain) and conducted in partnership with Human Telemetrics (https://www.humantelemetrics.com/ ; the former sub2 marathon project). Professor Eduardo Henrique De Rose, a son of Italian immigrants, was born in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, on 8 of August 1942, and has the Brazilian and the Italian citizenship. In 1966, he began his professional career with a degree in Medicine, in the first class graduated from the School of Medical Sciences of Porto Alegre, currently University of Health Sciences of Porto Alegre. At the University of Rio Grande do Sul, he concluded the specialization in Medicine Applied to Physical Education and Sports in 1968, Physical Education, Recreation and School Health, 1977 and Applied Physiology in 1980. With a scholarship of Humboldt Foundation, he did his doctorate in Sports Medicine in 1981 at the University of Cologne, Germany. In 1982, in the University of Tours in France, he did a specialization in Biology and Sports Medicine. In 1991, he completed a doctorate in the Faculty of Medicine, University “La Sapienza”, Rome, Italy. He received the title of Doctor Honoris Causa from the Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul, in the year 2011 and is a Professor Emeritus of the University of Rio Grande do Sul, also in Porto Alegre. As Chairman of the Medical Committee of the Pan American Sports (PASO) Professor De Rose served in the Pan American Games in San Juan (1979), Caracas (1983), Indianapolis (1987), Havana (1991), Buenos Aires (1995), Winnipeg (1999), Santo Domingo (2003), Rio de Janeiro (2007), Guadalajara (2011) and Toronto (2015). He was also a member of the Medical and Scientific Commission of the International Olympic Committee, taking part in the Olympic Games in Los Angeles (1984), Seoul (1988), Barcelona (1992), Atlanta (1996), Sydney (2000), Athens (2004), Beijing (2008), and London (2012). He acted was in the organization of the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro (2016), acting as Chief of Doping Control. He also participated in this area of the Winter Games in Calgary (1988), Albertville (1982), Lillehammer (1994), Nagano (1998), Salt Lake City (2002), Turin (2006) and Vancouver (2010). He was a founding member of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), which has participated from 1999 to 2016 in the Foundation Board and in the Committee of Health, Science and Medicine. In the Brazilian Olympic Committee (COB), he is a member of the Medical Committee since 1970 and was CEO of the Brazilian Anti-Doping Agency. Now he is a member of the Court of Justice in Sport, judging cases of doping in Brazil. Appointed in a survey conducted by the International Federation of Physical Education (FIEP) as one of the greatest experts of Physical Education in Brazil, Professor De Rose is one of the world experts in the fight against Doping in Spor. In December 2009, he was awarded with the IOC Trophy - Sport and the Fight against Doping. He was a Member, Vice-president, Secretary General and President of the International Federation of Sports Medicine (FIMS) which is currently Life Honorary President. He was awarded the Degree of Knight of the Order of Italian Republic, and the Governmental Medals of Merit Sports, delivered by Brazil, Ecuador and Ivory Coast. He received the Collar of the Order Olympic (IOC), the Award Philip Noel-Baker Research (International Council of Sport Science and Physical Education), the collar of the Pan American Sports Organization (PASO), the Medal of Honor in Sport of the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI), and the Golden Leonardo, of the FSMI. Professor De Rose has more than 200 publications, including articles, books, texts for newspapers and magazines, among other publications. At the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, he was Full Professor of Exercise Physiology and Sports Medicine, exerting further functions as director of Exercise Research Laboratory, which he was the founder and Director of the School. Actually, besides Honorary President of FIMS, he is the Dean of the Brazilian Court of Sports for Doping Cases and act recently as the Chair of the Disciplinary Panel of ANOC. Prof. De Rose is fluent in Portuguese, Spanish, English, Italian, French and German.

Dr Eva Carneiro is a Consultant in Sports and Exercise Medicine and was one of the first eight pioneering doctors recruited nationally to the Sports and Exercise Medicine Specialist Training Programme in the UK. She started her specialist training in Sydney Australia at the New South Wales Institute of Sport. She holds a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Sports and Exercise Medicine and is on the General Medical Council Sports and Exercise Medicine Specialist Register. Qualifying from Nottingham in 1999, she was awarded a Special Excellence Award by the university for services to Sports Medicine. She completed a Masters Degree at the University of London with her research in Football Hydration at West Ham United. She worked full-time at Chelsea Football Club from 2009-2015. During her four seasons as First Team doctor/Assistant Medical Director the team was successful in winning Champions League, Premier League, Europa league, FA Cup and Capital One Cup titles. She worked with a total of seven elite international football managers and credited with the highest player availability rates for any team in the English Premier League. Dr Carneiro worked at the Olympic Medical Institute UK in the build-up to the Beijing Olympics and England Women’s Football. Her passion is to use the experience of injury management at elite club level to deliver elite sport and musculoskeletal medicine services within the private sector. She is a Fellow at the Faculty of Sports and Exercise Medicine (FSEM) and a member of the British Association of Sports and Exercise Medicine.

Dr Fiona Bull is Programme Manager in the Department of Prevention of Noncommunicable Diseases (NCD) at the World Health Organisation based in Geneva, Switzerland. She leads the WHO’s global work on physical inactivity, healthy eating and the prevention of obesity, and provides leadership for global monitoring and surveillance of NCDs and their risk factors. Bull joined WHO in January 2017 after 25 years in applied research in Australia, the UK and the USA. Her recent positions include Professor of Public Health and Director of the Centre for Built Environment and Health at the University of Western Australia and Professor of Sports Science and Director of National Centre of Physical Activity at Loughborough University in the UK. Across her career, Bull has focused on developing scientific evidence and understanding of healthy lifestyles to inform public policy and implementation in practical programmes in community settings. Her work is multidisciplinary and includes contributions to the global burden of disease, national initiatives in worksites, primary health care, the built and natural environments, national surveillance initiatives and policy evaluations across many settings. Bull has co-authored over 180 scientific publications and reports. Her interest is in bridging the knowledge-policy-practice gap, and she has been actively involved in civil society. She is immediate past President of the International Society of Physical Activity. In 2014, Bull was awarded a Member of the British Empire (MBE) for her services to public health.

James joined the Department for Health at the University of Bath in 2008 following a 13-year career as an Exercise Physiologist in various Ministry of Defence (MOD) departments, including the Institute of Naval Medicine and the Headquarters Army Recruiting & Training Division (ARTD). Following a 3-year period as Director of Studies for the MSc in Sport and Exercise Medicine, he became Head of Department for Health from 2011-2017. During this 6-year period, he presided over an ambitious growth plan, which resulted in a 3-fold increase in the number of staff and students in the Department. He also led the Department through the REF2014 exercise, finishing 5th in Sport and Exercise Science, where 90% of the Department’s research was graded as world leading or internationally excellent. James currently holds a number of external Honorary appointments including Honorary Civilian Consultant Advisor (HCCA) in Sport & Exercise Science to the Ministry of Defence and Honorary Fellow of the Society of Sport & Exercise Medicine Malaysia (FSSEMM). He is also the University of Bath’s lead for Arthritis Research UK’s National Centre for Sport Exercise and Osteoarthritis (CSEO). James is currently Director of the DisAbility Sport & Health (DASH) Research Group and co-Director of the EPSRC Centre for the Analysis of Motion, Entertainment Research and Applications (CAMERA). Jo runs the Pain in Motion international and interdisciplinary research group (www.paininmotion.be). The primary aim of his research is improving care for patients with chronic pain. He trained 4k clinicians in >100 courses held in 14 countries spread over 4 continents. His work has been cited >12k times (h-index: 65), with 35 citations per article (ISI Web of Knowledge). Jo is ranked 2nd in the world among chronic pain researchers (1st in Europe), and 3rd in the world among musculoskeletal pain researchers (expertscape.com), received the 2017 Excellence in Research Award from the JOSPT (USA), and the 2020 Francqui Collen Chair awarded by the University of Hasselt, Belgium.

Josef Pace is the Rehabilitation Director of PhysioPoint and the Movement School Malta within Da Vinci Health a private health care facility in Malta. He studied at the University of Malta and qualified as a Physiotherapist in 2001. He is a qualified Diagnostic Ultrasound Musculoskeletal Sonographer through the University of East London and has a Masters in Musculoskeletal Medicine. In 2019 he successfully completed full training to become a Certified Running and Movement Technique Specialist trained by The Running School UK. Upon graduation Josef entered the National Health Service working in various areas of specialties and spent 11 years working in the main Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy Services Department. He set up the Emergency Department Physiotherapy Services at Mater Dei Hospital (MDH) Malta and currently although on a 2-year sabbatical he forms part of the Physiotherapy Management team at MDH responsible for all Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation outpatient services and Emergency Department Physiotherapy Services. His main interest is Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy, Sports Injuries, human performance and the importance of neural stimulation in managing and rehabilitating musculoskeletal, developmental and neurological conditions. Movement Analysis and correct exercise therapy based on the inefficient movements have become an integral part of his daily practice. He obtained various certifications in acupuncture, myofascial release techniques, manipulative techniques and is a and qualified instructor of the Australian Pilates Physiotherapy Institute. He also occupied the post of Vice President of the Malta Association of Physiotherapists for 4 years and was an elected member on the appeals board of the Council of Professions Complementary to Medicine and is a consultant to local and international sports and rehabilitation organisations.

Dr Raymond So is currently the Director of Elite Training Science and Technology of the Hong Kong Sports Institute (HKSI), the elite training center in Hong Kong. He has been actively involved in sports training and sports medicine research for many years. His major responsibility at the HKSI is to drive innovation and scientific, medical and technological support to coaches to systematically and positively impact athletes’ high performance results. He has done extensive research on windsurfing, in the areas of muscle activation patterns, physiological demand and training methods. In recent years, he emphasises on performance enhancement of elite cyclists. His research areas include muscle fatigue pattern in different cycling techniques, energy utilization during different types of cycling competition and recovery modalities. His research work is published in international academic and professional journals and numerous keynote and invitational presentations. Dr So has served the Sports Medicine and Sports Science Association of Hong Kong, China for over 20 years and was the President from 2001 to 2005, he is currently a member of the Advisory Board, and Chairman of the Strength & Conditioning Commission of the Association. Besides, he is the President Elect of the Asian Federation of Sports Medicine, a member of the Athletes Performance Enhancement Sub-Committee of the Hong Kong Sports Association for the Physically Disabled, a member of the Board of Directors of the Anti-Doping Organization of Hong Kong, China, a member of the Medical & Sports Science Committee of the Asian Paralympic Committee, a member of the Education Commission of the International Federation of Sports Medicine, a member of the Board of Directors of the Association of Sports Performance Centres, Vice-President (Membership) of the Asian College of Exercise and Sports Science, and Secretary of the Preparatory Executive Committee of the Association of Sports Institutes in Asia. He holds a PhD (Exercise and Sports Science) where his research focus was on the role of genetics, nutrition and sociocultural factors in explaining the phenomenon performance of Kenyan middle and distance runners, M.Ed in Physical and Health Education and a Bachelor of Education (First Class Honors) in Physical and Health Education from Kenyatta University. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the CATCH Global Foundation and a champion of healthy active living research, policy and practice. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Non-communicable Diseases Alliance of Kenya (NCDAK). He is the founder and vision carrier of the Africa Institute of Sports Studies, Technology, and Entrepreneurship (AfrISpoTE), a non-profit organization aimed at promoting research and developing competent sports professionals with 21st-century skills. He is a Physical Activity and Active Transport Researcher with extensive national and international research networks. Vincent has worked as the Center for International Programmes and Collaboration Director at Kenyatta University. Professor Willem van Mechelen (MD, PhD) has a background in physical education, human movement sciences, epidemiology, (occupational and sports) medicine and public health/primary care. He has an international reputation in occupational and sports medicine. In Occupational Medicine he has evaluated and introduced graded-exercise programs as highly cost-effective means for return-to-work of workers on sick leave, as well as worksite lifestyle interventions for the entire workforce. He has also been engaged in descriptive and etiological studies on f.i. fatigue in shift work in the Norwegian offshore industry. In sports medicine he is worldwide known for his 1992 conceptual paper on the ‘sequence of prevention’. In addition, he has developed a large number of preventive interventions, amongst which interventions to prevent ankle injury. He has received a number of prestigious (inter-) national prizes and awards, such as the American College of Sports Medicine Citation Award and the Burger-penning of the Dutch College of Occupational Physicians. He is an honorary member of the same college, as well as of the Royal Dutch Association of Physical Education Teachers. He also has had a prize named after him, was awarded in 2017 an honorary doctorate degree from the Vrije Universiteit, Brussels, Belgium and was made a member of the Wall of Fame of Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences in the same year. He is a knight in the Order of the Dutch Lion. His current Google Scholar H-index is 144 and he has >77.400 citations. "Wolfgang Schobersberger was born in Salzburg, Austria. He studied medicine at the Medical University in Innsbruck, Austria. During his study Schobersberger started with research projects in the field of sports medicine and high altitude medicine at the Institute of Physiology, Innsbruck with focus on oxygen transport and exercise physiology. After several years as university assistant he started his specialisation in anaesthesia and intensive care medicine at the University Hospital Innsbruck which he finalized in 1996. 1997 he was appointed as associate professor in anaesthesia and intensive care medicine. From 1997 to 2003 Schobersberger was vice director at the Trauma Care Unit in Innsbruck. From 2003 - 2008 Schobersberger had the position as head of the Institute for Vaccation, Travel and High Altitude Medicine at the Tyrolean Private University UMIT TIROL in Hall/Tyrol. 2009 Schobersberger was appointed as director of the Institute for Sports Medicine, Alpine Medicine and Health Tourism (ISAG) at the Tirol Kliniken/University Hospital Innsbruck and the Tyrolean Private University UMIT TIROL. Schobersberger is member of the FIS Medical Commission, chair of the Austrian Olympic Committee-Medical Commission, member of the IOC Medical and Scientific Commission-Games Medical Group and member of the WADA List Expert Advisory Group. Schobersberger has published more than 200 full papers in international journals and he was part of the medical and anti-doping team for Austria or the IOC at 11 Olympic Games and 8 World Championships. He serves as the leader of a lot of international & local centers of sports medicine & health science, including being the Past President of the Asian Federation of Sports Medicine (AFSM), Past President of the Hong Kong Association of Sports Medicine & Sports Science (HKASMSS), also as the Past President of the Hong Kong College of Orthopedic Surgeons. He is also the Director of the Hong Kong Centre of Sports Medicine and Sports Science, The Hong Kong Jockey Club Sports Medicine and Health Sciences Centre, and the Centre of Neuromusculoskeletal Restorative Medicine (CNRM) of InnoHK cluster research centers. A keen researcher and educator, Professor YUNG leads a team of CUHK researchers devoted to making advances in sports medicine and arthroscopy surgery. He has published over 200 scientific papers in international journals, contributing significantly to the establishment of Hong Kong’s leading position in sports medicine. The head of the first ever Master Course in Sports Medicine & Health Science in Hong Kong & Asia - he has trained over 1100 medical professionals in the field of sports medicine since 2004. He also conducted hundreds of training courses to teach people ranging from amateur sports lovers to medical professionals about the management of sports injuries, from delivering emergency care on the field to the treatment and rehabilitation of injuries. In his capacity as director of the Orthopedic Learning Centre (OLC) of CUHK, he has contributed to the training and development of more than 12,000 Orthopedics surgeons from all over the world over the past 20 years. Professor YUNG is also committed to delivering medical services in amateur and professional sports communities in Hong Kong, China & overseas. As Medical Consultant for the Hong Kong Sports Institute, he has been volunteering his services for athletes of Hong Kong’s elite sports teams and has been holding a weekly clinic at the Hong Kong Sports Institute since 2001. Since 2003, he has been acting as Team Physician for Hong Kong teams competing in several major international tournaments, focusing mostly on the management and medical care coordination of injuries suffered by the elite athletes of the Hong Kong Sports Institute. His commitment to the promotion of sports medicine education and delivery of clinical services extend to public amateur sports lovers, and Professor YUNG has been serving sports teams across all levels of education (primary, secondary and college level). He is also an active member of the Medical Committee of the Asian Football Federation (AFC), and has been performing Anti-Doping works as well as being chief medical officer in major local and international sports competitions for the last 15 years. He also works on fostering partnerships between different sectors of the community to promote major community sports programs, develop territory-wide community sports facilities and improve existing sports facilities. Professor YUNG’s commitment to community services has helped make Hong Kong a global leader in the field of Sport Medicine & Arthroscopy Surgery. In recognition of his local and international and contributions in the advancement of Sports Medicine & Health Science, he has been awarded the “Ten Outstanding Young Persons of Hong Kong” in 2009, the “FIMS Fellows” in 2011, the “Award of Secretary for Home Affairs’ Commendation Scheme” of the Government of HKSAR in 2015.
