"Dr. Abdulla Alrahoomi is a Consultant in Sports Medicine, Physical Medicine, and Rehabilitation, and his special interests include musculoskeletal injuries, regenerative medicine, and using diagnostic and interventional ultrasound. He is also the Founder of Emirates Society of Rehabilitation & Sports Medicine (ESRSM) Dr. Alrahoomi is the first UAE national to be certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation by the European Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and in Sports Medicine by the International Olympic Committee. He is Vice President of the UAE’s Medical Olympics Committee. He was also the treating physician for the UAE’s Olympic team at the Tokyo Summer Olympic Games 2020, and was the treating physician for the UAE’s National Team in the Special Olympics, in Abu Dhabi. He is also an Adjunct Professor at both the College of Medicine and Health Sciences at UAE University, and the College of Medicine and Health Sciences at Khalifa University. "

"Dr Kourie is Head of the Sports Medicine Department at Mediclinic Parkview Hospital, overseeing a multi-disciplinary sports medicine team.. He has been involved with elite standard sports at national and international level and has most recently completed eight years with the South African Rugby Union and as Team Physician and Head of Medical for the Natal Sharks Rugby Union team who compete in the Super Rugby tournament, which is often described as the world’s toughest club rugby competition . Dr. Kourie obtained a Masters in Sports and Exercise Medicine at the Sports Science Institute of South Africa (SSISA) in Cape Town. Prior to that he was one of the first doctors employed at Mediclinic City Hospital, Dubai, when it opened in 2008 where he helped set up the Emergency Department. He worked there for two years before returning to South Africa to complete his specialisation in Sports and Exercise Medicine. He comes with a wealth of experience in all sports and sports injuries, including advanced level concussion management. His department also drives the ‘Exercise as Medicine’ approach to lifestyle management for chronic diseases such as diabetes and high blood pressure as well as weight reduction and general wellbeing with individualised and sustainable exercise prescriptions. Dr Kourie utilises his experience with elite level sport to provide accurate diagnoses and management plans for athletes of all ages, whether professional, recreational or anyone wishing to take part in exercise safely, with regard to injuries, illnesses and overtraining symptoms as well as injury prevention strategies. Dr. Ashokan Arumugam is an Assistant Professor of Physiotherapy at University of Sharjah (UOS), United Arab Emirates (UAE). He is an Orthopedic Manual Physiotherapist with a special interest in physical activity analysis in sedentary and diseased populations, biomechanical analyses of the lower limbs, game-based rehabilitation, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses. He received his PhD with a Doctoral Scholarship from the School of Physiotherapy, University of Otago, New Zealand. He completed his Postdoctoral Fellowship at Umeå University, Sweden. He is a member of Prof. Charlotte Häger’s U-motion Laboratory, Sweden. He is currently involved as a primary investigator for funded projects, amongst others, investigating factors associated with objective physical activity levels and sedentary behavior in different populations of the UAE. He has been a (co-)supervisor for 13 master students and three doctoral candidates for their dissertations/theses. He has been the (co-)author of more than 60 national and international conference presentations. He has published 64 research articles in Scopus-indexed journals. He had worked as a clinician and/or an academic in various professional capacities in India, New Zealand, Sweden, and Saudi Arabia. He is an Associate Editor of BMC Musculoskeletal Disorders and a member of the Emirates Physiotherapy Society, Indian Association of Physiotherapists, International Society for Physical Activity and Health (ISPAH), and Sedentary Behavior Research Network.
